Program:
Presentation by Bill Geyer about the “Third” Wright Brother Charles E. Taylor.
Born May 24, 1868 in Cerro Gordo, IL
Moved to Lincoln, NE
Quit school at 12 to work in bindery
Age 20 moved to Kearney, NE to make metal house numbers
1892 married Herietia Webbert
1896 moved to Dayton OH to make farm equipment and bicycles and worked near the Wright Brothers.
On December 3, 1902, the Wrights sent letters to almost a dozen automobile companies and gasoline engine manufacturers, asking if they could produce or modify an engine that would develop eight to nine brake horsepower, weigh no more than 180 pounds, and be free from vibration.  Most companies replied that they were too busy to undertake building such a special engine.  Charles Taylor ended up playing a major role in making the engine.

Respectfully submitted,
