Program

Christine introduced Dr. Randy Carr (member of the Thursday Whatcom North club).  Randy is a local dentist, an avid fisherman, UW Husky and local boy.  Randy talked about a dental mission he took this past April to administer some charity dentistry to remote Mexican villages near Mazatlan.  The trip was coordinated by fellow Bellingham dentist Paul Lovdahl who Randy met through the Interfaith Coalition.  The villages they visited were very remote and isolated, with largely indigenous native peoples who spoke a native dialect called Nawat.  The climate there is bone dry during the winter and wet during summer.  They serviced some villages with peoples / tribes.  During their week,  Paul and Randy served 84 patients, administered 117 fillings, made 40 tooth extractions, etc.  Paul, who speaks Spanish well, has been traveling there yearly for 10 years now, bringing other dentists to help him.

Respectfully Submitted,
