Program
Bob Jones introduced Claire McNally from the Bellingham Railway Museum.
The mission of the BRM is to provide the community with an accessible and enjoyable link to railroad heritage, history and operations. The museum strives to do that in a safe and friendly family environment that allows visitors of all ages to look, listen and learn while having fun.  In addition to a rich archive of historical materials, there are model trains, train simulators and many other exhibits.
The museum's budget is about $35K, all income comes from tickets and donations.  Employees, except for Claire, are volunteers.  The museum is located next to the Parkade on Commecial Ave.  They served over 9,500 visitors last year.  Claire is amazed at the level of support from the community.  Bellingham has a rich railway history. She encourages everyone to come in for a look.  A couple "off-site" events they sponsor:
1) "Speedster" (vintage motorcar) rides at Orchard Place on the Bellingham Cold Storage tracks (former Bellingham Bay & British Columbia Railroad, later the Milwaukee line). WHEN: Fridays and Saturdays May 18th through June 9th Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays June 15th through September 2nd Saturdays and Sundays September 8th and 9th.  Fare is $3.00 Adults, $2.00 children, under 2yrs Free
2) Train Rides on the Lake Whatcom Railway:  Ride historic Northern Pacific Railroad equipment on a historic section of rail in Wickersham on Highway 9. See the museum for schedule and fares.  http://www.bellinghamrailwaymuseum.org/

Christine wins the raffle!
