Program for the Day

TIM McEVOY (Club President Nominee-2008-2009), introduced BOB MOLES, who gave us a most informative 'up-date' on the Clean Water project that has been (and is) supported by our Club.  Fortunately, we have many from our Rotary Club who are involved with this project, to Include BOB, CY, CURTIS, DONNA, GLENDINE as well as many others.  All of this 30 minutes was accompanied by a great slide show, letting all of us know the real impact that this Project will have (and is having) on those from Honduras. One can see the poverty that exists there as well as some of the palatial places right in the middle of the squalor.  And all of this will be benefited when these filter systems are placed in each and every home that has been identified.  Many dollars have already been contributed (our Club has donated about $15,000).  The filters cost about $75 each, and they are able to eliminate the impurities in the water for many years' to come.  Our thanks to BOB for all that he and his group have done, and we can all recognize that this is truly an International project of Rotary---and, our thanks for the program.

How about next week?

The program for October 10 will be featuring the Bellingham Bulls!!  Well, how about that!! Did you know that we have a Semi-Professional Ice Hockey Team in our town, and we will be able to hear all about it on this coming Tuesday.  So be there, bring your favorite hockey stick, a puck or two, and sit back.  I know the last time I went to one of these events, I was told that it was really a fight between to teams of about seven men, and once they got going, a Hockey Game broke out!! That was supposed to be a funny---however, just come on to the meeting, and learn a lot about this group that belongs to the World Hockey Association, Junior B League.  By the way, they will be playing 48 games during their premier season, and the players are composed of young folks between the ages of 16 and 20.  Tickets will be $8 for adults' 6 for kids and Seniors, and $24 for a family ticket that would include two adults and two kids---they will be playing their local games at the Sports Complex in Bellingham, and if you want to know more before Tuesday, contact LANCE C.  Their link is http://www.officialwha.com/.
