Stacey Armanda with Comcast Spotlight talked about the changing face of television. We have come a lonf way since the 1950's I Love Lucy, which was the first TV show shot in front of a live audience. TV in the 1960's grew in popularity, and 1970's shows demonstrated the social changes taking place. Currently, the average viewer only watches about 16 channels (out of 100+ choices). For advertisers, is the current situation (100's of channels) demonstrate the "needle in haystack" or the "golden needle". Fast forward nation: Convenience now allows watching anything at anytime (DVR and computer internet). Video on Demand. HDTV. Digital Conversion will take place in February 2009: No analogue signal will be available by cable or over the air after this date. Internet, mobile and iPods. Stacey described the various ways Neilsen tracks viewing habits. She gave many interesting facts about our TV viewing habits and tendencies.
