Program
Mayor of Ferndale Gary Jensen, currently at the end of his 2nd term. Challenging for him and others when transitioning from a small business owner (private sector) to public office.  Trying to set goals every year.  New attitude in terms of how Government operates.  How to do things different or better, i.e. new plan to give responses to people within 24 hours from when they apply for a permit, send status updates of their projects for developers and/or the permit process, new attitude operating processes in government.

Person in charge of law enforcement ceremonies in California, Oregon and Washington informed him that they have not seen as much patriotism/support as he did for the Ferndale Officer who recently passed away.

Questions:
o John Templeton – Regarding lower impact fees?
o Bob Tull – Did Ferndale have certain requirements that needed to be met when building in the downtown area i.e. residential units above commercial retail/office spaces? Gary said yes but that they were revisiting some of thos requirements.
o Brent Walker – Is new change in building department permeating to other departments in Ferndale City govt?  Gary said he hopes so.
o Ray George saidthat Ferndale planing dept. told him it would take 6 to 8 weeks to obtain a permit for a sign.
o Mimi Ferlin – Wasn't able to obtain permit for a double wide mobile home.
o Question regarding Walmart in Ferndale? Yes, there has been some informal discussions about this.

Respectfully submitted,
Henry Lee
