Student of the Month Program
Harold Scott introduced Chris Stevens, who is an adviser at Squalicum and will be administering our SOM program. She thanked our club for the support of this program and said it adds a lot to the students lives (as well as their college resumes!). Certificates and $100 scholarships were awarded to two very deserving students:

  • The October Student of the Month is Sarah VanGlubt, who volunteers at Sunday school and is a reading tutor at Sunnyland Elementary. She is also a member of several other volunteer clubs at Squalicum HS.
  • The November Student of the Month is Pamela Vauthues, who volunteers with Kiwanis Club and the Opportunity Council, and also works with her church.

Bill Gorman introduced Linda Giles, from Life Inspired. Linda just moved from Hawaii to Paradise (the town off the Mount Baker Hwy, not the place in heaven). Linda is a speaker, consultant, has written motivational books, and maintains a Website called www.lifeinspired.com.  She challenged us to connect with ourselves and others, and to find the positive side of every situation.

Respectfully submitted,

"Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself.  Mankind.  Basically it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind".  What do these words mean?  It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind."
