Flag Salute and Invocation by Bob Moles

Visiting Rotarians: Pete Kremen from the Whatcom North Club, Bill Hastings and Lynn Maselin from the Bellingham Sunrise Club and Julie Foster from the Big Daddy (and Big Mommy) Club

Guests: There were a number of guests, but yours truly was obtaining his lunch when they were announced. Sorry!

Announcements: Prez Orphalee announced that there is a District 5050 this Friday (11/9), and she is in hopes that someone will be able to attend.

On Wednesday, 14 November, at 0730 hours, there will be a Club board of Directors meeting at the Lakeway Best Western, and Orphalee promises that there will be a lot of chairs available (with lights) for all of the members who will show up.

Brent Walker stated that there was plenty of wine available, and the lists of these goodies re on the tables and they would be announced thru the Inter Net.

There are certificates of thanks for the various restaurants who participated in our Extravaganza, and they need to be distributed---we need help for those who would like to help deliver same. Contact Christine Palmerton or Donna Edquist for the list.

Our Weekly Dog & Pony Show: For the past five weeks, we have had a great few moments at each meeting, letting us all know the progress of the Grapes & Gourmet, and what was in the offing, and these presentations were engineered by our member, Matt Groenig (Curly) with the able assistance of one of his co-workers, Ms. Cindy Thompson. Those 'Dog & Pony' shows were done with expertise, and it was obvious that there was a lot of preparation in doing so. The presentation that was given to us on Tuesday (11/6) by the same players as well as with our future President, Tim McEvoy , was an act that will be difficult to better. Most all of the principal players of G & G were presented on the screen, to include ToddRamsay & Steve Brummel, (wineries); Donna Edquist, (Printing); Bryant Engerbretson, (Restaurants); Robin Schmidt, (Auction); Lynn Templeton, (Logistics); Brent Walker & Anna Williams, (Wine Sales); Carol Beecher (Coordinator); Ron Hardesty & Bob Jones, (Security); Bob Yost & Zachery Jones, (Ticket Sales); Lesa Boxx & Christine Palmerton, (Judges); Barry Kramer, (Advisor Extraordinarie); Cindy Thompson & Matt (Curly) Groenig, (Film Production); and Stan Dyer (Strong Arm Sales). There were others, certainly, but apologies are offered for those who were missed

A Special Presentation: Orphalee presented very beautiful bouquets to Cindy Thompson, Tim McEvoy and Matt (Curly) Groenig for the work that they did regarding the G & G Extravaganza. It should be mentioned that Tim McEvoy was the over-all Rotarian in Charge, and a special THANKS to Tim.

Facts, figures and other factual information regarding the Grapes & Gourmet Extravaganza will be presented at the meeting of 13 November 2007---so, be there!!

Bucks in the Bay: Presenting themselves one by one, the following coughed up a few bucks for the cause by admitting the following: Orphalee Smith gave a few Tax deductible dollars because she is now a qualified heavy equipment operator---if you question that statement, please note last Friday's Edition of that infamous Herald; Phil (I need a razor) Hageman placed $100 in the pot for his 51 years on earth; the Food Bank razing; the contract for the Episcopal Church renovation, the trip to LV with his wife and the announcement that there would be a formal dedication on Thursday, 16 November---time to be announced next Tuesday. Bob Moles reported that an Interact President in Italy was so impressed by our Clean Water Project, he sent a check in the amount of $150 to help support same. Chuck Walter placed 10 Hawaiian bucks in for his two weeks in Hawaii and the fact that he has been appointed as a Trustee for some unidentified Group--Congrats!! Steve Spitzer because his Son-in-Law was transferred up here from the Golden State (that would be California, for all of you who are not informed on such subjects) and that cost Steve a few cart wheels, and then to add to the announcements, said that he was so involved in other things, he is selling his going business over there at Sunset Square, and the business is ID'd as Play it Again Sports; Eddie (the Fun Guy) Hansen, for the birth of his brand spanking new son named Ryan, and if he had known that Ryan had the same birthday as Phil (I need a razor) Hageman he would have named him Mr. X; Curt Smith, a dollar or two for the great victory by his Alma Mater; Ed Zech for the impressive victory Navy had over Notre Dame (to think that there was a 43 year drought; Jane Carten offered some big bucks for the recognition that her Company had met all goals, and had a most impressive earning statement; Glendine Barkley for missing the Grapes & Gourmet blast because she mistakenly went on a two week China excursion with the local Chamber of Commerce; Chuck Olsen to recognize the accomplishments of Jake Locker at U-Dub.

Program: Our local YWCA was the program, and that was given by Julie Foster, Executive Director of same, and also with Lynn Maselin, who gave the historical picture of the local YWCA, and the fact that there would be a display starting this Sunday at the Museum, and would be there until March of next year, and all of that to celebrate the Y's 100th Anniversary. Sounds like a great spot to visit during the next few months.

Sergeant at Arms: the Sergeant was placed on the shelf once again, and we did not have that activity---well, look at the money you might have saved!?

Final Thought Our Club is stressing the importance of the two Rotary Foundations that are available to all of us. The Club Foundation has gone over the $70,000 mark, looking to hit $100,000. It needs your donations. Also, we have many credits with the Rotary Foundation, so that any Club Member can have matching Dollars for first time Paul Harris Fellows. Please see John Templeton for more information
