Student of the Month: Scotty introduced Luka McKay, and her parents Mike and Cathy. Terri White, councelor with Squalicum HS, thanked our club for our support, and also introduced Luka. She is a 4.0 student involved in healthcare projects, who takes her classes at WCC. She is deeply involved with the 4H program, and has been a great role model for younger kids. Luka talked about her 4H projects - she started with 4H for over 9 years participating in many fairs, raising goats, also she participated in 4H leadership and civic programs (for example a recent conference in Olympia called "Know your Government"). Scotty handed her a $100 honorarium.

Bill Gorman invited Anna Williams (president of the Hospice Board) to the podium, and gave her check for $33,000 from our club to benefit the Hospice Foundation.

Program
Yvonne Perez from Comcast discussed the Digital Transition.

Each analog channel decommissioned will result in room for 3 new HD channels; Only the "Expanded Basic" channel line-up will be affected; The speed for cable internet service will increase too after the conversion; Options for conversion:
1) If you have an old TV and are not a cable customer, you can buy a converter box using government coupon;
2) If you are a cable customer but you have older TV's and no "digital tuner" box, then Comcast will provide you with up to two converter boxes;
3) If you have newer (digital) TV's and/or "digital tuner" box for each TV, then you don't need to do anything.
