In the absence of Stowe Talbot, Publisher, Editor and writer (who is now in Hawaii for about ten days -- that lucky stiff!), your guest writer is that un-recognized and most humble Octogenarian, Stan Dyer!!

Flag Salute and Invocation by Bob (Clean Water) Moles

Visiting Rotarians: One gentleman from the 'Big Daddy Club' and one fellow from Elizabethtown, Kentucky, who was not introduced (probably because he didn't sign in!

Guests: Former member, Joel Hile was introduced by today's writer, and introduced by Lance Caloway, new member (to be), Wendy Keneipp.

Announcements: Stephanie Sadler reminded all of us of the next Rotario Dinner, and that will be held at the home of our boss, Tim McEvoy, and his First Lady, Marcia; the date will be Saturday, 21 March, at 1830 hours (6:30 PM); the Theme will have something to do with St. Patrick's Day, so if you plan to attend, it is a Green Evening all the way! You will hear Irish Music, Irish Jokes, Irish Hospitality, Irish Vittles, Irish Booze and find out if Tim and Marcia are really reincarnated Irish Leprechauns. Oh yes, by the way, there will be room for only 4 couples, so hop to it and call Stephanie Sadler at her work number, 733-1750, or her home, 671-8704, and make your reservations known to the lady who is in charge of these 'top drawer' Rotario Dinners!

Tim McEvoy (Mr. Boss) reminded all of us of the Fireside Meeting that will be happening on Thursday, 12 February, and it will be held at Anthony's Hearthfire Restaurant from 1730-1900 hours (5:30-7:00 PM). We will learn a lot about what our Club is doing this year and be able to get more acquainted with some of our newest members. Invited will be any member who came into the Club during Orphalee Smith's year or has come into membership during the present reign of President Tim. Also invited are the members of this year's Board of Directors as well as Jim McCallum (membership Chair) and Curt Smith (Club His

Denise Bosman stated that there would be a meeting at the Big Fat Fish Company, on Wednesday, 4 February (or was that Thursday, 5 February?) it concerns the Club's Foundation and how we will be spending those funds once the principal hits $100,000. Of course, this meeting will have become history by the time you read these words, so, why am I mentioning this? Who knows?

Lance Calloway announced that we will be having a bowling tournament on/about March 7, so do get your arm in gear, and we will see you at the alley and show all how to keep out of the gutter. More on this next week.

New Member Introduction: We are most pleased to welcome another new member into our folds, and that would be Wendy Keneipp (pronounced something along the line of ---Cuh-neap--I think!). Wendy is sponsored by Lance Calloway with the support of Tim Krell and Gary Barnett. Lance gave a brief introduction of Wendy, letting us all know that she is in an Event Planning company that she co-owns by the name of Room2Think. She has indicated that she most definitely wants to support the Community in a positive way, and she knows that can be done by being an active member of Rotary. Wendy has two children, Olivia age 13 and Cedric age 7. After Lance recited a few facts about Wendy, Past President Denise Bosman had the duty of installing her into our Club. Denise mentioned that one of the things she has found to be most beneficial in her retirement as Past President is to be able to take on the task of installing a new member. Thanks to Wendy, Lance and Denise for the great installation.

Not to Forget the Joke: Sometime during the first fifteen minutes of the program, our illustrious President told another one of his stories (jokes, that is), and this one managed to insult all of the Legal Beagles in the Club. It was a matter of some Court conversations between the Lawyer and the witness, and one of them went along the line of the lawyer questioning the expert witness, a Physician. Lawyer to the Doctor: "Did you say you performed an autopsy on the deceased?" Doctor, "Yes". Lawyer, "Was the Patient dead?" Doctor, "Yes". Lawyer, "Was he breathing?", Doctor, "No!", Lawyer, "Did he have a pulse?", Doctor, "No!" Lawyer "How can you be certain that he was deceased?" Doctor, "Because his brain is in a bottle on my desk!".

Well, it went something along that line, but you probably get the gist of the joke'. Oh yes, we have a movement going to have all of Tim's stories, jokes, insults, etc., published at the end of the year, and hopefully, it will be available to any who would have an interest in it! --- for a price, of course! If and when that tome is published, we will proudly set it alongside the likes of books presented and written by Gerald Baron and Curt Smith!

Bucks in the Drink (Bay)

Curtis Dye tossed in some money because he just happened to have another birthday;
Stephanie Sadler announced that she and Paul would be going to some sort of African Safari, and as such, she would not be able to go to Tim's Rotario Dinner in March (Now that is a tough one!);
Scot Swanson (one of those maligned Attorneys) placed American money in the pot for a birthday; Bill Gorman also added to the coffers because he was at Dye's BD party;
Gerald Baron emptied one of his pockets to mention about his well recognized Air Ace of WWII and to mention that he had a few books available on this war hero (by the way, Gerald is the author);
Christine (Naughty Girl) Palmerton exposed a few dollar bills to announce that she had a great time at the recent Seattle Boat Show and also, to talk about her new adventure in clothes: Naughty Girl wear, Naughty Boy wear and as suggested, coming soon, Naughty Baby clothes (man, is this a Rotary meeting or what?);
Mary Humphries told all of us to beware: her daughter has her car license---and Mary added another dollar or two so she could let us know that she was headed for Mexico so she too can get a nice tan as seen on many of our members; Tim Krell (another maligned Attorney) let all of us know that he is well on his way in opening his Law Practice, and for that, he squeezed out some hard earned dollars;
Patti (that mean Sgt. at Arms) Imhof, gave a dollar or two to say THANKS to those who helped make the Rotario Dinner at her home a great success. Particularly, to those who were the additional host/hostess teams, to include the Barons, the Ennens, and the Sadlers . Patti said that she thought the kitchen crew (those mentioned above) had more fun than the 16 guests -- well, it was noted that Patti was running around the kitchen in her bare feet; I guess all 8 of you did have a great time!!

Sergeant at Arms: With Patti Imhof at the podium.

As we all know, last Sunday was filled with the likes of activities surrounding the Super Bowl, so Sergeant Patti let us all have it with some very interesting and most unorthodox questions regarding the festivities of this event. She managed to go around all of the tables, asking many irrelevant questions about the game, and I do not think anyone managed to come up with a correct answer. Questions such as "who had the winning run?' HUH!! I thought the Super Bowl was Football not Baseball. Or, "can you tell me who was the most popular player there with the Cheer Leaders..." or, "tell me who was wearing polka dot spandex, and did you notice the tear in it?".
Patti, what would Frank have to say about those questions (Frank being Patti's ever loving husband). The above questions may not be exactly what Patti asked, but, get with it team, they were along those lines!! I think Patti managed to make a few bucks for the Club, so we say THANKS Patti; we can hardly wait when the Yankees play the Mariners, and then finding out who made the touchdown in the 6th Inning!

Program: Tim McEvoy --- And the Meeting was a genuine Club Assembly

After all of this frivolity, President Tim identified the various Committees of the Club, placed them at different tables, and for the last 25 minutes of the Meeting, there were some very hard working Committees that put their heads together for the betterment of the Organization. Leading those Committees were:
Charitable Giving, Brad Cornwell; Fellowship, Eddie Hansen; Membership, Jim McCallum; International Service, Steve Kimberley; Community Service, Tim Krell; Sergeant at Arms, Patti Imhof; Youth/Vocational Service, Stephanie Sadler

Rotary Info:

A Reminder of sorts: Our District Conference will be held in Canada this year (why not, our Governor is Larry Stinson, from Canada!), and the dates are May 28-31, and the Club will pay for your Registration. Rotary International Convention will be held in Birmingham, England, and the date of that will be June 21-24---we do not kick in for the Registration for that one. So Far, going to Birmingham, we have Tonja Myers and spouse going as well as Jim Johnson and spouse. And third, February is designated as World Understanding Month by RI. The month of February was chosen because it is the same Month that Rotary was started on 23 February of 1905. A good month for all of us to promote World Understanding and Goodwill.

Respectfully submitted,

Stan (blabber mouth) Dyer
