Program

Bill Gorman introduced John Sleeth with CHIP (Child Identification Program): A volunteer effort to provide identification to families so they have the needed records and information on their children, in the event that child ever becomes lost, missing or kidnapped.

The program "kit" includes:

  • a short video;
  • fingerprints;
  • a tooth impression;
  • a DNA swab.

Jerry Mason (NW Regional Coordinator) talked about the program.  Initially started working at the NW WA Fair, and provided 1,200 kids during that event alone.  50 volunteers put in over 600 hours of time.  Our club gave $1,500.  Each kit costs $5 - but the service is provided free of charge.  This year, the program will be conducted at other small local events where kids and their parents will be.  CHIP does not keep any of the information; the kits are given over to the parents for safe keeping. This program is organized by the grand lodges of the Free Mason organization.

Sincerely submitted,
Stowe Talbot
