Program

Lance Calloway â¿¢ Director of the Whatcom Sports Commission (new name of the Whatcom Soccer Commission). The WSC manages the soccerpark and the Sportsplex.

Soccer Park: Serviced 2,600 kids, 85 adult teams, plus tournaments. Has a big impact on the local economy ($4,700,000 est. annually).

Sportsplex: In 2003 they took over the Sportsplex and then bought it with the help of the City.

Was a good fit for them with economies of scale (tax benefits, labor cheaper, win/win wih advertisers). Sportsplex offers public skating, figure skating, hockey, speed skating, soccer, batting cages, additional programs (rummage sales, Birthdays, Parks new years eve party, concerts, Bocce tournament). Many improvements done, bleachers, separate the ice from turf, rink stuff, rink divider, rental skates, still need dehumidifiers.
