Program - Orphalee introduced Lisa Janicki from Sedro Woolley. Lisa is a member of the family-owned business Janicki Industries, which specializes in producing large 5-Axis milled patterns, molds, plugs, and tooling for aerospace, marine, and transportation applications. The company also is able to machine a wide range of materials including foam, fiberglass, carbon fiber and steel. The company is growing rapidly and now has over 500 employees. Some of Janicki's key customers include: Boeing (787 Dreamliner), Goodrich, Lockheed Martin (F-35 Joint Strike Fighter), Northrop Grumman, Pratt and Whitney and Vought Aircraft Industries. Janicki has undertaken large projects including a 164 foot production FRP motor yacht mold for Westport Shipyard as well as plugs and a carbon fiber hull mold for America's Cup racing groups One World and Oracle Racing. Additional projects include production molds for the Las Vegas monorail built by Bombardier.

Lisa is also involved with EDASK (Economic Development Association for Skagit County), which has the task of attracting and keeping businesses that provide family-wage jobs. It has 500 members, 5 major events per year, and several pilot projects including Latino Business networking, "bridge" training job skills, and agro-business marketing. She also showed us a PowerPoint presentation of the many successful businesses in Skagit County - many marine-related.
