Program
Bill Unrein introduced District Governor Harv Jubie, who is making his rounds to all the clubs in District 5050. Harv is from the Marysville club, owns an electrical contracting business, has 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren. He has been involved in school building project in Guatemala, and many local projects as well. He received the "Four Avenues of Service" award.

Rotary International goals for the coming year: Clean water, health and literacy. Last year District 5050 clubs gave over $550,000 to the Rotary Foundation. District membership is just under 3,000 people, and the goal is to increase that.

Harv talked about the Guatemala school-building project in which he was involved. The project was put together through the organization "Hands for PeaceMaking". On Harv's trip they built a modest school 20 x 24 feet. Typically rural people go to school only until 5th grade.

Harv and Bob Morse awarded a "Hands On" award to the team from our club (Dick Stark, Stan Dyer, Bill Unrein, Terry Beardsley, and Roger Long) who assembled playground equip that our club had purchased at the Whatcom Center for Early Learning.

The 2006 District Conference will be a joint presentation by Districts 5040 and 5050. The event will be held in beautiful Whistler, British Columbia about May 18-21, 2006. The Rotary International Annual Convention will take place in Malmö, Sweden and Copenhagen, Denmark from 11⿢14 June 2006.

Harv donated $75 to the Wheeelchair Foundation, which will be matched by $75 from our club.

Respectfully submitted,
Stowe Talbot
