Program
Tim introduced Brad Jackson, director of the basketball program at WWU. This is his 33rd year of coaching, and 398 wins in his career at WWU. Brad considers it a privilege to coach, and a joy to work with these kids. He wants them to understand that it is privilege to play - not an entitlement. His slogan: "Work hard and get better every day". - Positive team atmosphere - instill a sense of ownership and belonging. Although there are some examples of unethical behavior among athletic programs, Brad has tried hard to create a good example. Coaching is very much like teaching, but perhaps more intense. The ultimate goal is not necessarily winning, but to strive to be the best you can and always improve. Brad teaches the kids to measure themselves against their own goals: Having fun and being part of a greater whole (team). WWU has ranked in the top 20 teams nationally in the past few years. The team produced two All-Americans last year. Grant Dykstra was awarded the Jimmy V Foundation "Comeback Player of the Year". Brad says they have tried to create a style of play that is fun to play and watch (upbeat and fast). Although a lot of the team graduated last year (were seniors), they've had very successful recruiting for new talent this past year. Brad then introduced us to the current lineup.

Sarah R won the raffle ($27).
