Erika Buse was born in Bellingham and attended Lynden Christian HS, graduating in 2001.  She went to college in San Diego, graduated with BS in Nursing.  After moving to Santa Barbara, she went back to school in accounting, eventually landing a job at a fast-growing asset management company.  She met her future husband as a passenger on an airplane flight; he is originally from the Everett area.  Their first daughter Layla was born in 2013, then Lily came in 2015 while they were all still living in Santa Barbara.  Erika and Derek decided to find a way to move back to Bellingham, joining with Erika’s parents in 2015 to form a real estate brokers group under Coldwell Banker Bain - The Cantrell Group (http://www.cantrellgrp.com).  Erika’s husband Derek was the no. 1 producer in 2017. The family loves Bellingham and all the outdoor recreational opportunities here.

Martin Mead was born in CA and moved around a lot growing up. He graduated high school at Kings in Seattle, then two years Central WA University working towards a fine arts major.  But Martin has always loved cars, so attended Vehicle Research program at WWU. He met his future wife - she’s originally from France - in Huntington Beach, CA.  Eventually they decided to move to Bellingham for the lifestyle. The Meads are a family of skiers, mountain bikers, hikers, very outdoorsy. Martin formed his company 15 years ago called GiroDisc - racing breaks and technology: https://www.girodisc.com

It’s great to have these two outstanding individuals in our Rotary club!
