Bucks in the Bay 
  • Christine turns 48 tomorrow, she had great time in Lisbon at RI convention, many lasting memories;
  • Brad C for missed meetings while in Great Britain, loved the new Scottish Parliament Building in Edinburgh;
  • Bob Moles lost a good friend yesterday (Gary Snyder). Also, Bob said he is a 40 year Rotarian and explained the reasons he still values his membership, the importance of participation;
  • Doug Wight father passed away at age 94, he had many contributions to the community;
  • Bill Gorman for missed meetings, please thank Haggen Corp and Port of Bellingham for the wonderful fireworks show July 4;
  • Phil X is heading out to Hawaii on vacation sad will miss Brewers;
  • Leena for a 47th birthday!
  • Bryant E $44 birthday bucks lots of travel last month;
  • Harte enjoyed a week in NYC for the July 4th;
  • Barry K reported that his G&G team will be meeting Silver Reef Casino to determine if our even might be a good fit there;

Program
Bill Geyer introduced Brian Evans, the Executive Officer at Building Industry Association (BIA) of Whatcom County (http://www.biaw.com).
Brian is a graduate of U of Vermont, has a BS in engineering, moved to Bay Area to work in insurance for a decade and then to Bellingham to work for Greenbriar Construction.  Later founded his own company, a residential construction builder.  Now he is the head of the local chapter of BIA.  The BIA is the voice of the housing industry in the state of Washington, dedicated to enhancing the vitality of the building industry for the benefit of its members and the housing needs of the citizens.  The association's primary focus is to educate, influence and affect the legislative, regulatory, judicial and executive agencies of Washington's government.
The BIA offers:
a) Health insurance program;
b) ROII (Return on Industrial Insurance) program - offers insurance rebates for good accident experience ratings;
c) Continued education and professionalism, a trade magazine;
d) Build Green program;
e) Advocacy for the building industry; market rate affordable housing, fair land use rules, defends the mortgage interest deduction, etc.
